Webmaster comments   Ha....just keep up the photo of our Westies! As our breed was bred to hunt vermin, your two cats would be in peril. Making a broad statement, Westies do not do well with cats in house. It takes a very special Westie and that of an even more special cat to make that pairing work.

Thank you for your most kind words. Please continue to read our rescue stories and view the great rehabilitation photos.

Much appreciation,
Susan

Can boiled chicken breast or ground turkey be substituted for the groud beef if the westie diet?
10 August 2008 - Arizona

Webmaster comments   We do NOT suggest any changes.deletions nor additions to the diet. The diet ingredients are very specific for a reason...good results. Sirloin ground beef is used due to no fat thus lower protein.Fowl fat is not measured

I have a loving 5yr old westie who needs re-homing. Breaks my heart to loose him. But Jerry is no good with children. He has a loving nature, loves walks, and loves attention. Jerry listens well, and is looking for a warm careing home , unfortunatly without children.

Webmaster comments   Hello Sarah;

Unfortunately our guest log is not appropriate for relinquishing a Westie. Go onto our website and complete the form 'Relinquishing A Westie', give as much information as possible along with location and contact numbers. We will be in touch.
Thanks

We adopted 2 rescue Westies in April from The Westie Rescue of TN. They are adorable. Chili is 1yr 8mo and Coney is 6mo. So precious and what a handful! No regrets. Chili has yeast in her ears. I would like to try the Westie diet. Will it OK for the puppy? Have you ever heard of Tea Tree Oil for yeast infected ears? We are very regimented with their diet. This is a first because all our previous fur-babies ate people food, shame on us. I just hate this ear business. I know you recomend the diet, but should I try some other over the counter food first? Our vet recommends non-allegeric, they hate it.and ear drops twice a day. I put the drops in and Coney licks them out of Chili's ears. With them being so young wiould I have to keep them on this diet and if so won't they get tired of it? Any suggestions would help.

Hi, We have just lost our 16 1/2 yr. old Silky Terrier after 7 1/2 years with her. We want to share our home and love with another terrier breed and found your Westie rescue. Miss Heidi had been from a "no kill" shelter and it opened our eyes to the need of good homes for older dogs. We have mailed off an application to possibly be the "forever family" for Miss Zoey. Our hearts went out to her after reading her story and we hope that she will find what she is looking for in a kind and loving family. Thank you for all you do for these special little dogs! Sincerely, Bunny

My husband Robert and I applied to adopt a Westie, its been about three weeks now and haven't heard from you yet. We did receive a lieeter stating that we were approved. Everyday I look at the photo's of adoptable Westie's and we do not receive a call. Is there a problem?

Webmaster comments   Hello Janet;

Thank you for your post. Please re-read your acknowledgement letter. When there is an in-program dog which is felt matches with your adoption profile you will be contacted. Please remember we are all volunteers and all work full time. We can not possibly contact each applicant with status reports. Thank you for your understanding of our program, adoption policies and procedures.

Thanks very much for considering a rescue for your home and hearts. Susan

We have a 12 year old Westie, Ollie -he's our pride and joy. Visited with the westie rescue team when they were here in Costa Mesa, Ca. and realized that Ollie has never had the true Westie cut. Can you recommend a groomer near us in Signal Hill/Long Beach, Ca. Thanks.

Hi to all the westie lovers! My husband and I are the proud owners of two westies, Buster our 5 year old male and Bella our 2 year old female. We have spent 4 years trying everything to help our poor Buster with his skin allergies, multiple vet visits, antibitics, steroids, oral and topical medications as well as multiple food changes. Needless to say it was very frustrating to watch him suffer. We finally found a solution and want to share it with as many Westie lovers as we can.we hope it can help other pups. We changed to the IVD dog food purchased from our vet, he does best on the Duck and Potato, White Fish and Potato works well too, but he gets bored with it. When we feed him we do put a little fresh peeled potato in with his dry food and then found Organic Flaxseed Oil added to his food has completely changed and healed his skin. It has been a year now and all the sores on his body are gone, all his hair has grown back in and thicker than ever and the dark pigment in his skin has returned! No more inflamed bright pink scaly skin. The difference is amazing.We started noticing a difference within just a few days, he was no longer scratching biting licking every second, and then withing a few weeks his sores were healed. He is a different dog, so content, it's sad to think of how uncomfortable he was.but he's happy now!! :0) We found the Organic Flaxseed Oil at WalMart of all places.The bottle is only 5.00 and change.can you believe it? Once opened it needs to be refrigerated and it only takes about a teaspoon or two drizzeled on his food, and best of all both our dogs absolutely love it.Hope this helps someone out there like it did us!

Webmaster comments   Hello Heather;

Thank you for your post regarding diet. Research and 20 years of success still allows us to totally recommend The Westie Diet. As one will note, the liquid product Halo's Dream Coat has Organic Flaxseed along with other non-preservative essential vitamins and oils which are removed in the 'dry' food processing. We have found this product to supply all necessary daily requirements. Dry kibble, is a stabilized food product, in the stabilization processing the oils and moisture are removed. We do not automatically recommend a dry kibble, containing only a protein and carbo food base. Only in highly allergic Lamb situations, would a protein and starch food source base be used. Glucose testing and monitoring would be required. Starch turns into sugar and protein..which can cause skin conditions. The Westie Diet recipe was formulated from input and information supplied by a dogie dermatologist, two nutritionist, a general practice veterinarian and tested for 18-24 months on our rescues. We thank you for your testimonial and loving your two Westies.

Webmaster comments   Hello Jane;

Unfortunately, you did not indicate which 'papers' you are referring to in your post. If it's The American Kennel Club or AKC registration, go onto their website and learn how to submit a claim and receive a 'duplicate' registration. Hope this helps.
