My husband and I just lost our second Westie, Sparky, whom we adopted only 3 years ago from Mid-Atlantic Westie Rescue. He was a senior rescue, but still. We are heartbroken. After a suitable grieving period, perhaps you'll consider us for a young male? You approved us for adoption 3 years ago. We can apply again, if that is your policy. My husband said, "I have more pets to give." We just want to share our lives with a Westie, and treat the little guy good with car rides, park visits, cuddles and pets, just an overall happy life, with perhaps some fun weekend adventures. Thanks for reading.

Hello John and Mary;
How very sad about the loss of your rescue; Sparky. I will bet Mid-Atlantic has another Westie for your home and heart. They certainly are closer than our program.
Best to you both, many thanks for adopting a 'Senior' and giving him a wonderful loving home for his last years.
Hugs, Susan
Kristie (mommy of Starr)
I am so very happy to have found your site. Thank you Thank you for having an organization to help our Westies!!! I am a very proud mommy to my Westie Starr that we adopted from the Spca here in upstate. NY and can not wait to find another Westie so that Starr can have a brother or sister. Are there any Westie rescue organizations near us???? Or how do we adopt one of your Westies??

Hello Kristie;
There is a Westie Club of New York who has a rescue committee. You may wish to contact them for the availability of placenments. We do not ship our rescues and it is very difficult to inforce a contract within a state across the nation. Also check Westie Rescue Mid-Atlantic as they have placements within your area as well.
Best of luck and give little STAR a special hug from us.
Cheers, Susan

We just recently adopted a puppy westie. He is only 4 months old but is having skin allergy problems. He has begun to bald on his legs and we heard about the westie diet. Does it apply to puppies as well or do we need to make minor adjustments with the recipe? Such as the missing links, I saw one for pups, should I use that? Also, if on the westie diet can they eat other snacks than what is listed on your daily routine and food list? Please help. Thank you.

Hello Connie;
Your email contact should be directed to Susan our Exec Director. She is extremely knowledgeable regarding diet, puppies, diagnosis and help. She will ask a series of questions and based upon the answers will guide you to the appropriate cause of the skin issues. There are several things that can cause itching and scratching especially with a young puppy. Yes, there is a PUPPY version of The Westie Diet we can email once you have contacted our email: WestieRescueCA@cox.net Thank you for your contact. We are here to help all Westies and their owners.

How exciting to find your website. We were looking for information about Westies. We have two, Bonnie and Clyde. Barnaby left us a 21 years old. When we saw Morgann on the website we immediately felt compelled to give her a home. We greatly appreciate all you do for these wonder "little people in fur coats"

I am the proud pet parent of a soon-to-be 5 yr old westie named Leia. She came into my life when I was stationed (USAF) in Germany. Everyday I thank god that she has blessed my life. I came across your website one night and I just want to say you are doing wonderful work. I wish I could hug, kiss and love all of the adoptable westies. I am thinking of getting a sister for Leia but I want to make sure(it's an important decison). Anyway, god bless you all and give those boys and girls and kiss and hug for me

I have two beautiful westie males, litter mates, and they are the sweetest most loving dogs I have ever had. I highly recommend the breed and I want to volunteer very soon to help out in some way.

Hello Kathy;
Thank you for loving your two male Westies. We certainly would welcome your volunteering. There are so many tasks, because we have more incoming due to the downturned economy. Just go onto the website under 'Volunteer' and complete the form prompt.
Thanks again!

I got a westie about 7 months ago, he is currently 9 months old and he constantly scratches and bites himself everywhere. he is on flea treatment, and the vet put him on benadryl and that did nothing, so he put him on steroids and that does nothing either I do not know what to do.

My soul-mate, my short-man, my Oggie just diagnosed with renal failure at eleven years old. He spent 2 full days and nights in vet and hospital care, he came home to be with us Friday evening. Still om meds, but nothing is helping. I am so hurt. Our 16 year od Cairn Terrier is dying of cancer, but slowly, she still eats, etc. I thought we'd still have five years with Oggie, now he's to be the first to die.
