Toby, now Winston with his proud owners Maureen and Tony

Hi my name is TOBY I am an AKC registerable, altered male, puppy who's birthday is 08-08-03. I was given to Westie Rescue of CA because my original owners didn't understand the breed, my puppy behaviors and how very important training is in a young dog's life.

Unfortunately, my first home was one where there was lots and lots of activity and kids. This was both hectic and exciting to my little terrier brain. I would get too excited with all the noise, activity and try to be one of the 'pack'. Sometimes I would 'puppy nip' trying to catch the 'kids'. Well I am a Terr-ior after all.....grin. I need a more relaxed and stable environment, no young kids and one which understands ''terr-ior in training'. I really am not a bad doggie, just doing things that puppies do.
I am housetrained, leash trained, crate trained, am learning to use the doggie door when I want to go outside. I like to ride in the car and I am very inquisitive about everything and every body. I don't like cats, because they don't want to play 'chase me' games. Their manners are awful, gosh cut those nails! My foster Mom says I am going to be a larger Westie when I grow up. Right now the previous owner's groomer shaved me.......yep everywhere......kinda embarrassing, especially living with all the other Westies with nice full coats here at my foster mum's. But my foster Mom says it will grow.....I like her lots she is patient with me. She already lets me know, just what I can and can't do. I give her kisses when she picks me up. I play fetch, which really surprises her, because I bring back the ball to be thrown again. Guess that isn't the 'norm' Westie behavior. I love toys that squeak and carry them around in my mouth.

I like taking a bath okay, but the blow dryer is kinda scary. I am currently living with male and female Westies and so far, I am just one of the 'white' blurs running through the house. I got a little too nosey, with an older grandma Westie who was sleeping. She growled at me......I was sorry, thought she might like to play with me.....not a chance!

I am neutered, up to date with all my shots (Rabies - 1 year, DHLPP, Corona, and Bordetella). Am microchiped. I am being changed over to the 'Westie Diet' currently; boy I like this new chow! My foster Mom says my new adoptive family should be: experienced terrier owners, ready and willing to continue on-going house manners and take me to formal obedience training. And, be patient, as I am only a puppy. Can I go home with you.....will you be my forever family? Hope so!
