Hello Everyone......Our Names Are Buster and Sophie.....
We need your help!
We are looking for that 'one in a million' adoptive home for this precious littermate brother
and sister pair of purebred Westies. They were literally dumped off at a Northern county shelter
for euthanasia by the only owner and home they had ever known. Thank goodness that did not
happen!!!
They are a loving, sweet, calm, non-barking duo that we believe is approximately 8-9
years old. It is very evident, the previous owners did not care for them adequately for the last
several years. They were dumped at the shelter in terrible physical condition. Their fur was matted,
dirty and had feces all over in it. Needless to say, they have been clippered, bathed, blow dried
and now are much more comfortable. The owners were not willing to work with Westie Rescue of CA
who tried to obtain the dogs before they were dumped. The owners lied and said they had found a
home for them both. Okay that was good.....right....NOPE!
The owners felt no one would want the
dogs and were determined to put the dogs down, due to Buster being recently diagnoised with
Diabeties. Their Veterinarian refused to put the dogs down, indicating there was no reason to
do that. They were healthy otherwise and there was nothing wrong with Sophie! Being foiled there,
the owners took the dogs to a shelter out-of-the area and dumped them. The owner didn't tell the
shelter the small vial of liquid was insulin that Buster needed. At the shelter they were held
for the customary four days, just in case the owners change their minds. Alas, the duo had to be
shaved down because they arrived with large 3 inch mats of fur hanging and smelled foul due to
feces in their fur. And Buster, with his stay in the shelter without insulin, had urinated all
over himself and smelled awful.
The day and two hours away from them scheduled to be put down,
they were pulled by the nice folks at Noah's Bark and they immediately contacted Westie Rescue of
CA . Hats off to Noah's Bark. Thank goodness for these kind folks at Westie Rescue of CA and the
fact that fate has brought us to them anyway!
We now are in a loving secure foster volunteer
home and are settling in nicely. We really like it here. We have sniffed out the place and declare
it Westie-excellent. There is a back yard and we can go outside anytime we want. We have new toys
to play with and nice clean beds. The food is really good too. Buster is eating appropriately for
a diabetic dog; Hill's WD (canned) and ZD (dry kibble). And is receiving his AM/PM insulin shots
daily. Sophie is on the Westie Diet and has joined the 'clean plate club!'
Sophie and Buster have been updated with all vaccinations, heartworm and Buster received an
updated glucose-curve test for appropriate insulin dosage. With just this little care
and dedication these little ones know they are experiencing love once again in their lives.
Both are running around like puppies with joy. Bless all of our volunteers!!!!!
They came to us with frayed and tattered collars. with one tattered leash between them.
Now they have new toys, great food, new beds and lots of love. Watch for their 'extreme
makeover' photos very shortly.
These dogs are located in California, near the San
Francisco Bay area.
WE WILL NOT SHIP THESE DOGS.....PERIOD!!
Since they have been together
for all their lives, we also do not want to separate them. Sophie is a sweetheart and a very
easy dog. Buster depends upon her . They are devoted to each other. Can you give a loving
home to this pair of darling Westie rescues? They deserve their 5-6 remaining years to be
in a happy, caring, calm and loving home.
Please do not email requesting information.
Please click on the 'Adopting a Westie' link for adoption information and forms.
We do not ship our dogs, but do adopt to out-of-state to approved homes.
Thank you for considering a rescued Westie for your home and hearts.
