Paddy, before grooming
(Her eyes are reflecting the flash and really just appear black, like in the pictures below)

Paddy, after grooming

Paddy (now called Chelsey) with Juanita and Michael

Dear Westie Rescue

I just wanted to let you know that my new companion is absolutely terrific. She is full of love and affection beyond what I ever dreamed of getting with this little Princess Westie. We had a family pow wow and decided to change her name. Her new name is Chelsey and it fits. She is such a hunter and on our three acres she certainly has plenty of space to explore. Her nose is always to the ground.

I did find out that I can not let her out of the car without a leash on.....she gets a scent and she is gone. The second day I had her, I let her out of the car in the garage and as the automatic garage door was coming down to close, she got a whiff of something and took off under the closing door. But of course, typical Westie that she is, she does not understand or better yet listen to the commands 'come', 'stop' , 'whoa' or 'hey you'. Next step for both of us is Obedience School. She just loves the Westie Diet and is responding very well. She loves to travel and is great in the car. I have a friend in Palm Desert and we have already made a few trips there to visit with me.

Thank you for our lovely 'Holiday Gift' and I am certainly blessed to start 2004 with this wonderful little delight.

Love and Licks
Juanita and Chelsey (aka Paddy)

My Name Is 'Princess' ......but all my Westie friends just call me "PADDY"

My foster Mom says I am a 4 year old, spayed, female Westie who is AKC registerable. I am friendly towards people and older children. I now need a permanent 'forever' home once again. In my short life I have lived in three homes (counting my breeder's) and now my fourth here with my Westie Rescue foster parents and their three Westies. Gosh people, I would really like a permanent family where me and my doggie bed can crash and stay.

My original owner, who bought me when I was a puppy, was very nice and took great care of me. There I had another really old male mixed breed companion to bark at and chase, pull his ears and generally give a bad time (like puppies do).  That was fun. I had a big back yard to explore and run and play in. But both my doggie parents worked all day and they would leave me outside in the back yard. Naturally, it was fun for about 15 minutes, then being bored I wanted back in the house again, so I would bark.....well the retired neighbors next door really didn't appreciate my talking to them between the slats of the fence. And my doggie Mommy didn't like to leave me inside the house because after coming in from the garden all muddy I would mess up their 'white' sofa. So, deciding there were no other options, they placed an ad in the newspaper and another family came along and away I went doggie bed and all.

My latest owner relinquished me after just 8 months of ownership. Unfortunately human life changes and hardships then arise for us doggies. My Mom left my Dad, their three children and me too for gosh sakes! Well my poor Dad really did try to do his best running the household, cooking, cleaning, but with three kids, working 14 hours per day, there wasn't any time left for dog walking, playing with me, taking me to the groomer's or any of that necessary stuff. By all accounts, I was a good family dog, which my foster Mom says needs to be the ONE and only pet in the household. You see I am very special, because I am a true Westie! I like hunting birds, I absolutely hate cats, rats, raccoons, lizards, toads and the family's Hamster......oops didn't mean to do that! The kids left it out of it's cage and I really thought it was a great new toy! Shuck darn it!

I was rescued from a house which looked like "The Adams Family" lived there, being an 'unrestored' old Victorian two story house, I was extremely dirty, both of my ears were infected, they didn't give my foster mom any medical or shot records, I was shaking and trembling because I was frightened, by tummy was bloated and I had a good case of fleas. But my new foster Mom took me away from there anyway. She talked to me in the crate as we drove home to her house. I think I remember what the front room looked like upon my arrival, because I was carried immediately and put in the bath tub. At that point, I couldn't have told you what color the carpet was because I never came near it that night! My skin was hot and red, probably from the discount store's canned food I was being fed and the fleas. I was washed a total of three times before my foster Mom was sure I was a true Westie. My AKC papers said I was......but ya know some people don't believe what they read!

I have been to the Vets office for a thorough exam, shots (Rabies, DHPP-Corona and Bordatella), nails trimmed and was given medicine for my ears. It really wasn't bad, they gave me a treat for being a good Westie patient. I almost didn't get the treat however; when they took my temperature......yikes how barbaric! I am housetrained and will whine when I need to go outside. I am learning how to use the doggie door at my foster parents house, that is pretty cool I can go outside just any 'ol time I feel like it. I like to go for my regular routine walks now my nails have been trimmed. I don't mind grooming or baths I set really still. My diet has been changed over to the Westie Diet and I just love it. It tastes much better than the canned food previously and I get a clean bowl to eat from each day.....what a treat.

This dog would be good for a retired couple or individual, with perhaps older children. She however must be placed in an 'ONLY' pet situation as she is very alpha dominant around other dogs, both male and female. Maintained on the Westie Diet for proper coat and skin care. Needs regular exercise and be played with such activities as; fetch, chase, find the toy, etc. She is waiting for your loving home and heart. Please open your hearts to this little girl, she would love to have a wonderful home for the holidays. She is a very good dog, but needs a stable homelife. Is that you....she hopes so?
