Lido

I just had a bath and I'm ready to romp

Autographs signed at 11:00, expect a line.

Update May 2006

Lido is still doing great. He loves to torment his sister Emily until she gives in and takes up the chase or just barks at him.

He is the best snuggler at night, walking on his Mom Diane until she holds up the covers for him. Then he is down for the night, head to head with Mom. Life doesn't get much better than that!

When company's around he "works the room" He goes up to every single person, dropping the ball at their feet, and nudges or "talks" to them until they throw the ball. Sooner or later everyone gives in and plays Lido's game.

All this love, just for helping out with a Westie in need.
If you need a true friend, consider helping another Westie like me

Thanks.........Lido........

Update: 09-22-05

Lido continues to be our darling little boy. He's even started giving me kisses on the nose, but on his terms only. Like when I'm lying down in bed or on the floor with him. We had some little children over here last month, and he LOVED the 3-year old.....Mr. Social Butterfly.

Best regards,

Diane and Alan

UPDATE!

Mom, Dad, Emily, and Me

Emily and Me

ME!

Hi Westie Rescue -

Well, we went to Petco and took some pictures with my new family, and I wanted to share them with you. I'm very happy in my new home, and (between you and me) I'm being spoiled rotten, but I love it! My Mom feeds me the Westie diet, and I finish almost every bite. I'm not a really big eater, but my appetite has grown over the last few months. Dad lets me sleep right smack up against him every night; and when he's away on business, I cuddle with Mom and Emily.

My groomer comes to the house every other week to make me beautiful, my hair really white and soft , because I sometimes get a little dirty romping around my back yard. I love to run out there with Emily and play games with Mom and Dad.

I also love to play with my toys -- especially the big sunflower squeaker toy you gave me -- and balls. If Mom and Dad are too busy to toss them for me to chase, I pick up one of the squeaker toys and make a lot of noise, and then I bat the ball around the room with it. That makes Emily bark at me, but she's really a nice big sister. And Mom put a blanket on top of the sofa in the family room just so I could hang out there and look out the window. It's really comfy up there, and I can see anyone who comes in the yard. I'm a good watchdog, but Mom tells me I have to work on not barking if no one is coming. (What can I tell you? I'm a Westie.) I always make friends with every visitor, though.

Just wanted to let you know I'm safe and happy, and wanted to thank you for finding me such a good home. Mom and Dad said they are very happy that they have me, too.

Have a wonderful holiday season, and I hope all the Westies in your care find their forever homes soon.

Love,
Lido

Hi Westie Rescue -

As you can see from the attached pictures, Lido has made himself at home. When he's not in Daddy's lap (his most favorite place), he can be seen catching some rays poolside. He's a happy little boy, eating well, playing with his toys and getting to know and love his sister, Emily. He's a keeper!

Thanks so much for finding him for us.
Diane and Alan

Original Story Below

Hi My Name Is Lido;

People who know me say, I am a very active, cute, spunky, altered small (16 lbs) male Westie who's birthday is 07-21-2000. I had to be relinquished by my previous owner, because my Dad was having progressively chronic respiratory problems. But that didn't stop my Dad and Mom from loving me very much. They even let me sleep on their bed, which the doctor said was a no, no. Shoot, what do they know! But, alas my Dad really was struggling and the pet hair and dander was not helping. So they made the sad decision to give me a new beginning with WR of CA. My Mom was very sad, because I came to live with them when I was just a little 'snip' of a thing. But they knew WR of CA would find another home that could love me as much as they did.

Some nice volunteers, who were vacationing hear my home, picked me up and drove me a very long distance to my foster mom's. I lived near the Bay, so that's why they called me Lido... I guess. Huh? The WR of CA volunteers were very nice, they kept me over night, cuddled, walked, and played with me. I got to go on vacation too. Pretty cool huh?

I think the moist and damp area where I used to live caused me to itch and scratch and have several ear infections. So, when I got to my foster Mom's she bathed me in Medicated shampoo and gave me a new Westie 'do'. Does that make me a 'dude'? Nah! I immediately began my training in a crate, reaffirming my house manners, and learning to control my barking (well sorta). I might be little, but I make up for that with my big bark! My foster Mom muttered something about a Napoleon Complex, which didn't make any sense, because I am Scottish not French....oh well. My foster Mom praised me when I would bark appropriately, then corrected me when I messed up. She corrected me for barking at; the poor gardener, UPS man, the pool man, mail lady (I stopped that because she gave me a cookie....now I like her...she is swell), black dog next door, neighborhood kids with those funny looking scooters, other Westies that steal my toys.....you know the usual stuff. She was much stricter than what I was used to, but that was ok I learned I could get lots of attention without needing to bark. The other Westies here, were kind enough to show me all their toys, several balls and include me in their games of 'keep away'. But mostly I was the 'keep away' target. It was fun, because my foster Mom says I am a social butterfly. Never met a person or animal that I didn't like or investigate......well there was that 'one' indiscretion with that stupid cat!

I would do well in a Westie knowledgeable home, I need constant positive reinforcement with my new learned behaviors and crate training skills, hey if there were other Westies or at least a buddy or two that would be great too. I like lots of attention, so if someone was home during the day that would be great. I am up to date with my shots (Rabies 3 yr, DHLPP), previously altered, love the Westie Diet, and will need to attend obedience training (but that could be fun with my new Mom and Dad on the end of the lead).

Say could I sail into your life? Bet ya can't NOT love me.........Lido
