Hello my fellow admirers. I have been named GEOFF by my Westie Rescue foster mom. I like it just fine and actually I have started answering to it here at my nice foster Mom's home. See, I was a stray found wandering around a highly populated parking lot area of San Diego pretty late one night. Some nice people literally rounded me up and took me to their house. They checked me for a collar, I didn't have one, a tattoo, I didn't have one of those either. They kept me overnight, gave me food and water and thought tomorrow would bring my original owners forward. They put up flyers in the surrounding neighborhood. But this nice couple already had a very young Welsh Corgi puppy.....boy was she active. They knew I needed either to find my original owners or someone to help me find a new 'forever home'. So they called the nice folks here at Westie Rescue of CA. Well my foster Mom went about finding my original owner, she first took me to the Vet to see if I had a microchip (nope), then called all the area shelters, emailed a photo flyer to all her Westie contacts, a group of WR volunteers canvassed the 'found area' in a five block radius leaving photo flyers everywhere and at every home, contacted all the local Vet offices, grooming salons, boarding kennels, dog walkers, Petsmart, Petco, and they even contacted all the utilities technicians and Postmen, gardeners, UPS and Fed-Ex drivers, meter readers, pool services, etc, hoping someone would recognize my photo and lastly she placed a Dog Found advertisement in the newspaper. Nobody came forward or even called looking for me. Well, there was that one call from someone looking for their Yorki.....I didn't think that counted. Okay, granted the 'before grooming' photo looked a bit scary, but I think someone should have been looking for me, Well, my foster mom said not to worry WR would find me a great new home.

I now have a new Westie haircut which I like (my foster Mom says I am a very good looking boy........yep, ya know she is right), I was treated for my fleas which I brought with me, and both my ears had infections (not anymore.....so I don't have an excuse for not answering when called anymore...darn it). Now that I am legally considered abandoned; my foster Mom took me to the Vet for shots (DHLPP-Corona, Bordetella and Rabies), they checked the progress of my ears, she also wanted them to look at a growth on my right rib area. The Vet said it was a benign growth and could be removed when my teeth are cleaned. Gosh, guess my previous owner didn't take very good care of me.

They have guessed my age at around 6-8 years old, I am neutered, have a nice calm personality, can use a doggie door, walk on a leash just great, whine when I want out of my crate in the early morning.....yikes 630AM and am totally housetrained. See, here I am fed the wonderful Westie Diet and I sleep at night in my crate. Sometimes I just go in for a short nap during the day or after I have gone to the park and am tired. My crate door is left open during the day. I have a pretty soft dense coat, which will require bathing more frequently (depending, but maybe every 1-2 weeks). My foster mom has both female and male Westies here and I like them all. I won't bark unless the doorbell rings or my other cohorts are barking at that pesky cat across the way. I absolutely love going for a ride in the car, my foster mom takes me when she has errands to do. I will just stay in the car, she has a 'Doggie Car Seat' which lets me look out the windows. I just stay in the seat until she comes back in the car. The other day I got a doggie biscuit when we went to the bank.......I liked that. I even sat in the cart at Home Depot, that was fun. Lot's of people talked to me and petted me too.

I would like my forever family to be placed calm and loving, I give licks when you pet me, no small children, someone who likes to travel by car and take me with them, and since I don't jump on the furniture I could go visit just about anywhere because I have 'good house manners'. A requirement of my adoption will be; they must have my teeth professionally cleaned and have the small growth removed at the same time. Would you please consider including me in your home and heart? I promise I will love you forever..........Geoff
