Ernie

Dear Susan and all of my friends at WR of CA,
Just a note to let you know how I am doing in my new home in Central CA. It is nice here, a little cooler than So. Cal. and we have had a lot of rain (5 plus inches already). I have a nice deck and a large yard where I can make nice tunnels in the bushes. It is a good place to hide objects that I do not want discovered. The digging is good in the grass but Mom and Dad say that I get too dirty when I dig. Oh well, I will let them have their way this time.

Have been on the Westie diet since I arrived. The diet has helped my coat to get a lot softer. Dad seems to like to brush me - I am not crazy about that but it seems to please him. I get a bath about once a week. They use a whitening shampoo and a harsh coat combined. I have pretty much the run of the house except for 2 sofas in the living room. I let Dad share his chair with me. I sleep in a crate next to Dad's side of his bed. It is comfortable and he gets up when I want him too.

I try to keep 'em on the straight and narrow -like last night Mom left a pair of boots downstairs by the computer. I took one to her to let her know she should be neater. It is hard getting them totally trained to my way of life. Am holding my weight at 22 lbs. can't gain too much because Brennie (my neighborhood Westie girl friend) may not like me. We visit most every day when I take Dad for a walk. I forgot a couple of nights ago when my Dad had me in front to pee and I ran to her house. Dad sure got mad at me. I will try not to disturb him. He has an e-collar when I get too friendly in talking with other dogs, cats, funny animals with antlers to get my attention.

I had 4 sessions with an animal trainer, did not impress me much but I played the game. We go for a lot of rides in the car and golf cart. I really like the cart better as I can let the wind blow on my face. Had a few trips to the vet just for checkups, etc. I don't mind it too much as I can talk to a lot of other dogs. Mom and Dad are going on a vacation soon, so I will be at the animal hotel. But Brennie will be there too, we will have a lot of fun biting each other on the neck.

Been trying to help Mom redecorate, got a couple of rolls of toilet paper and decorated the inside of the house. That sure was fun. Mom and Dad did not get too mad. I have a lot of neat toys, mostly balls (tennis and golf) which I roll under chairs, etc.and let them retrieve them for me. I am sending a photo of Mom, Dad and my hansome self.

I am trying real hard to please and like both Mom and Dad a lot. Each of them have redeeming qualities and I feel lucky to be here. It sure beats roaming the streets! Thanks for all you did in rescuing me, I really appreciate it.

Love,
Frankie, aka Frank,Franklin, Piss Ant, and Bud

P.S. I am good at guarding from the spiral staircase. It is a good vantage point to observe approach of critters.
