Duffy before grooming

Duffy after grooming

Hi Westie Lovers......My Name Is Duffy.

I am a 3 year old, altered, male Westie who was rescued from an animal shelter about a year ago by a very nice family. Their Veterinarian guessed my age, since I was picked up by an animal control officer and brought to the shelter because I was running the streets. I had been fending for myself for some time or my previous owners didn't take good care of me. Naturally I didn't have a collar, tattoo or microchip, so my owner's could not be notified. I came to the shelter scared, matted, dirty and had very long fur...really I didn't look like the cute Westie I have become today. I like it here at this nice adoptive home, but I will have to find another one where I can be the one and only dog. Darn it! Mainly because I live with two other male dogs; a male Yellow Lab and a male Basset Hound. My Mum says there is too much testosterone with three males running around 'hiking their legs'. And of course, being the 'Terr-ior' that Westies can be.....I want to exude my dominance over the other two males.

Even though I am the smallest dog (but don't tell me that), like to show my dominance over the other dogs by 'cover' urinating. Guess, I really over did it a bit.....because my Mum says this 'marking' issue has gotten unbearable! They have tried all the classic training techniques and nothing so far has worked. So, removal from the environment is the best solution....so says the 'animal trainer'......geez, what does he know!

Well, I am not really 'that' bad (personal comment interjected) because I actually am an inside house dog. I like to lay by your side for hours while you read or watch TV (I particularly like Animal Planet). And, I sleep in the house, in the bedroom, on the foot of the bed at night. I am neutered, up to date with my shots (DHLPP, Rabies, etc) and licenses with the city. My Mum says that I am cute, very loving and affectionate. They want to make sure that I get that type of home again so I won't be traumatized...I think that would be nice. Because I am still young, I do like to play and run around in the yard. I really would like a home without other animals.....I want to be the center of attention (what you have a problem with that? I didn't think so!).

Won't you let me live with you forever? I would like that. Wags and Kisses, Duffy.
