Dooney was featured in the photos which were
taken by Home and Garden Magazine.
The magazine did a featured article on Dooney's
owners, Ron and Joy and their hilltop
historical estate.
A note from Doony's adoptive family:
The Dooney Story
When we think of Dooney's incredible sweet
nature it never ceases to amaze us. If we had
lived the life she led the year we adopted her
we certainly wouldn't be sweet!
My husband and I brought Dooney home in November
of 1998. It was a few weeks before her fourth
birthday. She was malnourished. You could see
her ribs. She had infections in both ears and
her fur was practically non-existent. She really
didn't look anything like a Westie. Susan assured
us that she was and if we followed her Westie
Diet Recipe, Dooney's hair would grow in and
she would look like a Westie.
Of course we did this, and in a few months
her hair came in. And her tail when up and wagged
like crazy. One morning she just decided she
was happy to be with us. If my memory serves
me right, it was Christmas week. We would like
to think that perhaps she realized she was not
going to be passed on to yet another home life
and situation. She had been in four other homes
the year she came to live with us.
In a few weeks Dooney is going to have her
10th birthday (2003). Hard to believe how the
time has flown. It feels as though she has always
been part of our family. She is smart, curious,
friendly, affectionate and sweet. Cute too!
When she gets fed she brings her cookie and
lays it at your feet. We really don't know where
she learned to do this but it's a great trick,
guaranteed to melt hearts each and every time.
We know we are lucky to have her. She is lucky
to have us and all of us are lucky to have Susan
who made such a wonderful match.
And they all lived happily ever after.........Mom
