CHET

Hi from Chet

MAY 2007

HI WESTIE RESCUE AND FOSTER MOM SUSAN;

WOW!  I THINK YOU FOUND ME THE BEST HOME I COULD GET!!!!!!!

I AM BEING A GOOD DOG ALMOST ALL DAY LONG....(HUH....THEY THINK I HAVE TO LEARN TO COME WHEN MY FOLKS CALL ME.  DARN, I GET SO BUSY IN MY BIG YARD DON'T YA KNOW).

YESTERDAY WE ALL WENT TO PETCO AND I GOT TO PICK OUT MY OWN CRATE AND A NEW RED HALTER ALONG WITH SOME FOOD AND STUFF. I LIKED DOING MY OWN SHOPPING AND I WAS VERY,VERY GOOD IN THE SHOPPING CART.  I GUESS I HAVE MY OWN CREDIT CARD TOO!  EXCELLENT!!!   MY NEW DAD CARRIES IT IN OUR WALLET.

AFTER SHOPPING WE WENT TO THE PARK - IT IS BIGGER THAN MY YARD BUT I HAVE TO BE ON THE LEASH. WE HAVE MET OTHER DOGS IN THE PARK BUT THEY ARE BEING VERY CAUTIOUS AND DON'T LET THE DOGS GET TOO CLOSE YET.  THERE IS A LITTLE BROWN TERRIER CALLED "HONEY".  SHE IS ALSO A RESCUE.  WE MEET EVERYDAY, SO I AM SURE WE WILL BECOME FRIENDS.

ALL IN ALL I HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY AND I REALLY LIKE IT HERE. THANK YOU FOR FINDING ME A FOREVER HOME AND HOUSE TRAINING ME SO WELL.  THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS IN THE HOUSE!  SEE I AM A VERY GOOD DOG!

LOVE,
CHET

Original Story Below

Hi Westie Lovers.....MY NAME IS CHET.....

I just came into the program from being relinquished from my one and only home. My owners didn't understand dog ownership, much less understanding Terriers.

Gosh my foster Mom, really knows about my type cause I am fostered with both male and female Westies. I like my new activity, walking on a leash with the other Westies. My DOB 05-20-2004, am altered, have shots (Rabies-3 yr, DHPP, Bordetella and Giardia).

My foster Mom is starting me back to crate training which makes it easier to house train. Unfortunately, I was tied out in the back yard or when I came in the house was tied to table leg. So, I didn't have house-training reinforcement.

My foster Mum says that I do not need my own 'two legged' kidos, cause I don't understand that I can not chase and nip at them. She says something about being 'prey driven' which means, I have great traits for my breed....but not so good with young kidos.

I have no skin problems and now am currently eating the ''Westie Diet' (click link on Left for recipe). I can now walk on a leash and love this new thing called structured exercise. Yahoo! I received an extreme grooming make-over (as you can tell by the photos) and I was a little nervous but made it through cause she told me 'what a good boy I am'. Pretty cool huh?

My foster Mum says that my perfect home would be in an experienced Westie and/or Terrier home. My forever home should have time daily to take me several times for long walks, plus we probably should go to basic obedience training school .I can not have kidos of my own, because the noise and actions make me excitable.

Thanks CHET...
