Meet Charlie, 11 yrs, altered, SPECIAL NEEDS (at the moment)
Hello Everyone.....I was brought into the Vet's to be put down cause I
had a
knee injury which is called an ACL. So the kind Vet had my owner sign
me
over to her. Now I am kinda staying there until the surgery can be
performed to make me better. Vet care and the operation has been
covered.
At the moment we need appropriate FOSTER CARE, during his
post-operation
rehabilitation.
Ideally, that would mean someone who is experienced with Westies and/or
Terriers.
He will need to be crated/kenneled for the next 2 weeks, to
limit
stress on the back leg. That means, short walks, no running, jumping
or
playing about. When the Vet says it is okay, several short walks daily
can
begin.
Ideally, 'hydro-therapy' would be great. Hydro-Therapy
provides
full range of motion, with no stress on the reattached tendon. But if
no
one one can be found with that type of contact, carefiully supervised
excersise will work too.
He was previously altered, has updated shots, is on the smaller side
weighing only 17 pounds. He had an ear infection which was yeast. Ear
was
professionally flushed and medication started. He also was affected
around
the folds of the lip area. Topical treatment daily is clearing up that
condition well. As soon as he can be bathed with medicated shampoo
that
will also help.
