At the shelter, before placement with Westie Rescue of CA

Robert, Emily, and Casey

Woof, woof.... My name is Casey. This was the name that the shelter assigned to me before I was adopted out by Westie Rescue of CA, anfpo. In my short life, we are guessing around 2 years old, I was not treated very well. An owner, who probably knew nothing about our breed, how to train dogs, or caring for a dog, relinquished me to the shelter, . My foster mom says that I have 'trust issues', which probably stem from unsupervised children and improper training (if any!). I growl if I am scared, or you make sudden movements toward me or my head. But, once I get acquainted with you, I won't growl. You can pick me up, roll me over for a tummy rub, etc. From my apparent condition, I was an outside dog, my fur was matted, dirty, long and ungroomed....possibly for my entire short life (that is what my foster mom says). I had never heard grooming clippers before coming to Westie Rescue of CA....and was scarred they were going to hurt me. My foster mom says that slow movement is best until I get to know you. I like it here, I have other Westies to play with....I particularly like females. I like toys that squeak, I carry them around in my mouth.....but don't try to take them from me (again they think I was teased by????). I need a loving, calm, reassuring home, possibly a retired Westie and/or Terrier knowledgeable couple or single person. We think NO children at this point.

The dog is up-to-date with shots: DHLPP, Bordetella and Rabies. Does have some issues with trusting humans,  but does warm up after initial introduction. This dog does need special attention and patience with a terrier knowledgeable person(s). Please do not apply unless you have these qualities and are willing to work with the dog. He is a lovely animal, and will make the 'right' home a great forever Westie. This dog has been altered and is currently on the Westie Diet. He needs a stable, loving home which can reassure him that he is #1 there forever!
