Bernie with new owners Diane and Mike (not pictured)

Bernie loves to be outside by the garden

Notes: Hi My Name is Bernie..... I am a 2 year old male Westie who was found running the streets of Los Angeles. I was in terrible condition due to neglect. Some mean person didn't feed me, so you could see my ribs, and most of my hair was chewed off because I had a lot of fleas, actually my fur was chewed down to the skin and I had infections in both ears. I am much better now and actually my hair is growing in each day a little bit more! My foster Mom bathes me once a week with medicated shampoo so my fur grow back well. I like my new Westie diet and actually I am putting on some weight. I am staying in a fun, active, loving, flea free foster home. I have other Westies to play and run with and they have lots of toys and a ball. I like to play fetch with my foster Mom a lot. Sometimes she quits before I am ready though! I walk on a leash really well and I like lots of daily exercise. I am very, very energetic so I need lots of exercise each day. I walk 4 times per day for long, long walks. I like playing chase with my foster Westie pals. I need a big back yard and someone home during the day to keep me occupied and busy. Otherwise I think I could get myself into trouble. I absolutely love to ride in the car! On longer rides I will fall asleep. But I also like looking out the window of the car. I like just about everybody and of course visitors are here to see only me! My foster Mom is working with me chasing cats on my long walks, I like to whine and pull at the leash when I see them! I don't think my new home should have a cat....darn it! I am eating the special 'Westie Diet' which is really helping my coat and skin problems, I must be on monthly topical flea solution, in a house without cats, my foster Mom says that I need Obedience training too. I can already set and lay down on command. I have all my shots and rabies, and I have been wormed. I will need a bath each week.
