Rory
I am a recently neutered, male
who we believe is around 1-2 years old. I was
an owner turn-in at one of the kill shelters
in the high desert area of California. I am
really grateful to be in a clean, loving foster
home which is calm and reassuring. My foster
Mom said it was obvious from my poor condition
that I was not properly cared for by my previous
owners. When my foster Mom came to pick me up,
she drove home with the air conditioning on
and the windows in the car down.........she
kept saying 'yuck, yuck'. Guess I didn't smell
very good. I had electric fence wire, with pieces
of shrubs and tree leaves tangled between my
legs and tummy area. I had fur mats which were
4 inches wide X 1/2 inches thick all over my
body. My arm pit areas had open sores caused
by the electric fence wire wrapped in there
with fur. I had foxtails and stickers in my
feet, fur and all through the mats. Plus I didn't
smell very good. My fur was soaked in urine
and I hadn't had a bath in months. Well, I don't
remember my feet touching the floor at my foster
Mom's house until I was in the bath tub soaking.
She worked on my mats and fur for a long time,
talking to me in a low voice while trying to
untangle the electrical wire and cutting the
fur mats out. I gave her kisses because I knew
she was going to make me better. She cut off
all of my dead smelly fur. And put medicine
on my sores under my armpits. I feel much better,
and now due to my new diet I have new healthy
fur growing. Update - One Year Later Message from Rory: |
