From Minnie's New Mom: Mini... she is one precious puppy, funny too. Last night we had played a bedtime game of "give me the sock" and were about to go to sleep. I looked over at Mini who was on her back with her feet in the air. I tickled one of them and got a growl out of her. A few seconds later she rolled over and came to sleep in the crook of my arm. A friend finds it hard to believe that when
she darts out of the door, she won't leave the
yard and that she'll come back when she is called.
If Minnie wants attention she makes that fact
known and I do indeed give it too her. She sometimes
gets a bit carried away and wants me to hold
her while I watch TV. It's fun to do it for
awhile, but Mini's a glutton. I think she wants
me to hold her all evening. We enjoy one another
immensely. I wouldn't take a million for her.
She's just a perfect little princess. Another update on Minnie: Hello Susan. As you might remember, I had some trepidation about adopting an older dog. I didn't want to go through loosing another pet. Well, I was wrong. This critter stole my heart within a day and I seem to have stolen hers as well. When we arrived home after being at your place, I showed her the doggy door. She navigated it without much problem, but she still had a couple of accidents before she knew that potty going was for outside. When we went to bed that first night, I had to put a stool next to the bed because she found it difficult to jump up as high as the bed. So we started settling in. As we did she crawled on top of the covers and positioned herself between my feet. So I was pinned down. I told her to move and she growled at me. I think those are the only cross words we've had . ;>) God I love that Dog !!! There are so many cute things she does that it's hard to know where to begin. As you know she's a love sponge. Got to have it all the time. She gets it most of the time. When we're watching TV she'll scoot across the couch and put her head on my leg. Then I'll hear her start to whimper. The whimper increases in volume if I don't take the hint. What she wants, and gets, is for me to hold her. So I do. Then she groans when she's getting loving. There's no disguising that groan. Who would have thought a dog would groan in pleasure. Other things that I find appealing are that I often wake up at night to find that little furry head either on my shoulder or arm. She has several affection behaviors that I enjoy. The snow man still exists and we play with it several times a day. We used to do that with the other toys you gave us but they are long gone. ;>) She likes to torment my associate, Tom, with the snow man. At first Tom made up his mind to not like her. For some strange reason he thought loving her would be disloyal to Bridgette's memory (my previous Westie female). However, my little West Highland White "Terror" won him over. When he arrives she barks at him and brings the snow man close to him. When he reaches for it she growls and puts herself just out of his reach. She'll do that for awhile before letting him grab it. Then the growling, shouting and tugging begins in earnest. When that's over she will run up and down the hall or runs around the house. Cute- damned cute. Another thing that's very attractive about her behavior is her tendency not to run away. While Tom and I are working, she visit with us and not attempt to head for the hills. We keep the large door open. Bridgette had the annoying habit of escaping every opportunity she had. All the best, Michelle |
