Dear Westie Rescue of CA:

I wanted to let you know how happy I am with my new family. I love my new Westie brother Max and I adore my new Mom & Dad. I can hardly wait to greet them when they come back home, even if they were gone for only 5 minutes. I love the park-it is wonderful - birds, people & other dogs to sniff & chase. And, it is right across the street from my new house, we go there often. And Christmas, with all those new toys was ever so exciting. Everyone who meets me really likes me a lot. After all, I am awfully cute. Thank you very much for rescuing me and preparing me for this great new adventure.

Hello All You Westie-Want-A-Be Owners,

Have I got a dog for you......it's me silly! My new name is Kelsey, but sometimes I think it is...."No, no don't you dare". I am a petite 14 pound, female, spay Westie that is very active and has boundless energy. My birthday is January 12, 2002, so I am still in the 'terrible twos' phase of my puppyhood. But my saving grace my foster Mom says, is I am cute as a button, plus I really like people (especially my foster Dad) and other Westies. I came into Westie Rescue because my former owners knew with my Mom and human Sissy (20 yr old daughter) working full time I just wasn't getting the housetraining, crate training, discipline, exercise and the proper diet which growing Westie puppies need. See, my Dad had a stroke, so he wasn't able to work. We basically would hang out at the house, I would be on his lap or following him around. But, Dad wasn't able to do much playing, walking and training of me. So, I was left unsupervised and did some 'puppy' behaviors......shoot, how did I know I wasn't suppose to chew up those $250.00 loafers of my human Sissy's. She left them on the floor. But I also thought those wires hanging down from the computer's speakers needed to go.....and they did.....in half.

Boundless energy and no positive direction, got me into mischief more times than not. But now I am on a 'program' as my foster Mom calls it. I am now crate trained, can use a doggie door, walk on a leash without pulling or wrapping myself around light poles and I am really working on my house manners and almost have been 're-house trained". At my foster Mom and Dad's, they have a daily routine which gives me plenty of scheduled walks for exercise, I also get Vitamins and doggie biscuits in the morning, my new dinner is the Westie Diet and I got a new "Westie Prom Do" (that's what my foster Dad calls it) because grooming was a new experience. My fur is growing in nicely, when I arrived here nothing had been done to my coat since I was a puppy I still had all my dead puppy hair. With the new diet, routine brushing and grooming a new coat will grow in. But, alas that will take some time says my foster Mom. I get regular baths now, because I like to explore the flowerbeds outside. I bring roots, plant leaves and dirt on my muzzle inside to share. I like sharing, I am very social.

I was taken to the Vet and given all my shots (Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella). I liked the Vet and licked his face. They gave me doggie treats. I think I would like my new forever adoptive home to be; stable, loving, able to provide on-going crate training, housetraining, exercise, continue the Westie Diet, and maybe even take me to obedience school. Sometimes I forget to listen......my foster Mom says I have 'selective listening skills' especially when she wants to put me in my crate.....I begin playing chase me, chase me. I can walk on a leash well, can use a doggie door, love to play with balls and squeaky toys. I get along with both male and female Westie brother and sisters. Can I come be part of your family? I promise to be the best dog I can be.....will you be my forever home? Will you keep me forever?
