Hello my fellow admirers. I have been named
GEOFF by my Westie Rescue foster mom. I like
it just fine and actually I have started answering
to it here at my nice foster Mom's home. See,
I was a stray found wandering around a highly
populated parking lot area of San Diego pretty
late one night. Some nice people literally rounded
me up and took me to their house. They checked
me for a collar, I didn't have one, a tattoo,
I didn't have one of those either. They kept
me overnight, gave me food and water and thought
tomorrow would bring my original owners forward.
They put up flyers in the surrounding neighborhood.
But this nice couple already had a very young
Welsh Corgi puppy.....boy was she active. They
knew I needed either to find my original owners
or someone to help me find a new 'forever home'.
So they called the nice folks here at Westie
Rescue of CA. Well my foster Mom went about
finding my original owner, she first took me
to the Vet to see if I had a microchip (nope),
then called all the area shelters, emailed a
photo flyer to all her Westie contacts, a group
of WR volunteers canvassed the 'found area'
in a five block radius leaving photo flyers
everywhere and at every home, contacted all
the local Vet offices, grooming salons, boarding
kennels, dog walkers, Petsmart, Petco, and they
even contacted all the utilities technicians
and Postmen, gardeners, UPS and Fed-Ex drivers,
meter readers, pool services, etc, hoping someone
would recognize my photo and lastly she placed
a Dog Found advertisement in the newspaper.
Nobody came forward or even called looking for
me. Well, there was that one call from someone
looking for their Yorki.....I didn't think that
counted. Okay, granted the 'before grooming'
photo looked a bit scary, but I think someone
should have been looking for me, Well, my foster
mom said not to worry WR would find me a great
new home. |
