Hi...I have been named, ABBY and here is my loving story..
I touched the heart strings of a very nice man and his lovely wife, who already have a Westie Rescue of CA rescued female named Shannon. They would come by, almost every week, to see if I had found my 'forever' home yet. Alas, it was sad...each week I was there to greet them, week after week.....I began to think no body wanted me....sigh. My huge whopping price had been reduced each week to make me more appealing to buyers. I had a lot of lookers....but there were no takers. Was I destine to live in a pet shop for the rest of my life? Was I never to know what playing in my own yard or the love of an owner was? Finally, these nice Westie owners who had visited me regularly had had enough and bought me for a ridiculously low 'fire sale' price. Oh boy I was on my way to having my own family finally! The nice couple explained why they had saved me from the pet shop, it because their first Westie had come from a pet shop too. They loved her dearly and wanted someone to know that love. Then they told me they were going to give me to Westie Rescue of CA, but that they had one stipulation; they were going to ask if I could be named after their very first Westie, ABBY. Well naturally, Westie Rescue of CA said it would be their honor and they promised to find me a wonderful loving home. Hey that was OK with me.....I was up for anything, as long as I get a good home and am away from that pet shop cage.
I have all my puppy shots, but still need my one (1) year Rabies shot. I am crate trained (dah!), can walk on a leash pretty well and love to play, play, play. I need a determined owner who will follow through with ongoing crate and house training techniques. My foster Mom says that is very important because of my long stay in the pet shop crate. My birthday is 03-01-05. I now know what grass feels like under my feet and that it is OK to potty outside while on a walk with my foster Mom and Dad. I kinda like the special attention around here and love everything about being in a loving Westie household. They have lots of toys which they let me play with, I particularly like the ones that have squeakers. To show my appreciation, I like squeaking them when my foster Mom is on the telephone..grin! But the best fun of all, is when my foster Mom makes the ice maker drop an ice cube on the floor. Oh, boy I chase that ice cube around the kitchen. It eventually 'hides' somewhere, cause I can't see it any more...there is only a puddle of water....which I signal to my foster Mom...."Hey it wasn't me!".
My perfect forever home would be one which knows about committed house training (or the nice folks here will help you), will promise to continue crate and house training. I will have to be altered, if not already done when placed. I am OK with children (older than 8 years) who are adult supervised and gentle, cause I am just a puppy. My foster Mom says, I should throw in....I could also use some puppy kindergarten classes, which will establish a strong bond to my forever owners. It would be nice if I had a secure back yard too or at least be able to take walks and regular exercise. Does this sound like your home? Geez, I hope so, cause not that I don't like it here but I really want a forever home soon. I am waiting for you, leash in paw. Lovingly, ABBY
