OZZIE

Hi, my name is Ozzie. I was a shelter pull by Aussie Rescue of NorCal hours before I was to be put down. The shelter told Aussie Rescue I was a stray and no one came to claim me. You see, I tried my hardest to look cute for the people passing by the cages, but I was a mess. I was matted and had a skin infection from poor care. Luckily, Aussie Rescue contacted the local Westie Rescue Volunteer and I was whisked into the program that knows all about Terriers and their issues. I was immediately put on the Westie Diet, taken to the Vet, put on the right medications and given the soothing medicated daily baths until my condition got better. I was sprung from the shelter only weighting 15.8 pounds. Now I'm 16.5 and look very healthy. My Foster Mom says I'm still a little guy but I have the BIG Westie attitude. Oh, did I mention that I love my new Westie Diet and my Foster Mom thinks that if I am kept on this diet there will never be any more skin infections. Well, it tastes yummy and I feel so much better, so I really like that idea.
Westie Rescue got me up to date on all my shots, I had all my worm tests done and I'm on my monthly heartworm & flea medications. I have been micro-chipped and even had my teeth cleaned. I had to have a couple teeth pulled, but that doesn't stop me from being first to the food dish. The Vet that cleaned my teeth thinks I am around 8 or 9 years old. My Foster Mom calls me an "Old Man." LOL! See, she thinks I'm a little hard of hearing. So, she claps and uses hand signals to call me. She usually has a treat, so that gets me in the door in record speed for an Old Man. I get along well with the other Westie's in the house, but I do have some food issues. My Foster Mom has a secret for that, though and doesn't want that to deter people from wanting me. There are ways to get around this.
My Foster Mom thinks it will either be best for me in an only dog home, with a willing owner or with an experienced Terrier owner. My Foster Mom also thinks there might have been abuse at my last home as I will look into your eyes before I come in the door, as if someone would slam the door on me. I'm not the most playful guy in the house. I would rather be taking a nap next to you then playing on the floor with the other Westie's in the home. I will follow you from room to room once I attach myself to you. I love belly rubs and attention. I don't think I got too much attention at my last home. My Foster Mom thinks I would be a great fit with a retired person that just wants to dote on me. I will sign up for THAT! Someone doting on me is my favorite thing to do!
Send in your application and ask for OZZIE. I'm very sweet, loving and I listen to anything you want to tell me really well. My Foster Mom says I listen better than most spouses. I don't know what a spouse is, but if it's something I could hunt, well I'll get to that after a snack and a nap. I am way past the digging stage, I have recently been crate and completely house trained. I am a good boy in those areas. I will let you know when I need to go out and I'm not much for staying away from you for too long. If I had a doggie door, that would be awesome. Thank you for reading all about me. I hope you will give me my forever home. All My Love, Ozzie.

It all starts with an application completed and mailed. Often we have dogs who are quickly available for adoption; at other times there are several are in our network of great foster volunteer homes, undergoing necessary retraining and/or rehabilitation.
We have many dogs who are just not yet ready for adoption....but be patient, maybe he or she is THE ONE for you!
