MERRIE (now Lily)

Adopted Jan 2011

Lily, formerly Merrie   Merrie aka Lily

Hi, I adopted Merrie last Saturday. Bridget Kinchen and I connected in Pasadena. Right now we are calling her Merrie Lily, in anticipation of changing her name to 'Lily'. She is the best little dog and has fit right in with our family....my 91 year old blind mother, my two Bengal cats and me. She and the cats, although not best friends, yet, are getting along just fine. No hissing or growling. She is a love. she and I have bonded like glue. Thank you for making this possible.

MERRIE, is how I am now....

Late on a Friday afternoon, a desperate call about a senior female Westie who was abandoned was received by a volunteer just about to leave for the day. The dog was in the middle of nowhere, her leash tied to a door, and did we mention it was late afternoon Friday? Yikes! We were pushed into action mode by this urgent situation. Once again one of our great Westie Rescue of CA & 7 Western States volunteers hopped in her car and started driving to the remote part of a very rural county's city. After being the companion of a homeless woman for 5 years, she couldn't care for her any longer. Boy, this little girl was thankful when the volunteer rolled up, just hopped in the car and never looked back! A note stated age was 10 yrs. young, her name and ask the finder to take good care of her. We promise that!

This little one is a purebred, altered, female, Westie, in need of a bath and grooming, but friendly and excited about the treats that came with our volunteer and her great limo ride. Very Special Thank You to all the volunteers who helped accomplished the coordinated efforts to transport this lovely sweetheart to our foster care home. BRAVO and KUDOS.

Once in foster care, she was brushed, bathed and blow dried, given food and water, she fell fast asleep in a clean crate. She is now up to date with vaccinations (Rabies-3 yr, DHPP, Corona, Bordetella),the Vet found teeth and gums were in need of cleaning. While under 6 teeth were removed (infected), then all were cleaned, polished, and she was given a round of antibiotics. While under, nails were cut, too. She now has a microchip and is a wonderful little housemate.

Our foster Mom reports she is perfect in every way; house trained, loves walks on leash, playful and so grateful to be in a home again. Loves the other Westies (female and male) in foster care, even cats and kids! Who knew!! Love to follow my Foster Mom around, sitting next to her, just like the little lady I am. I even know how to use the doggie door and never had an accident in the house. I love my new diet The Westie Diet - with Senior Kibble....lick my bowl clean! Like tummy rubs and going 'bye-bye'. I can set in a dog car seat and look out the window. I remember not so long ago, when I was out 'there' looking in......Thanks for looking at this 'Ms. Happy Paws and Tails' the story of MERRIE.
