Wyatt (now Wally) adopted August 2009

Wyatt now Wally

Hi Westie Rescue,

Boy am I a lucky guy!  Thanks for saving me, getting me all patched up and finding my extra special home...who already have Westie playmates! Here's a photo of my Dads; Ed in the red shirt holding me, now Wally, and Robbie (previous Westie Rescue of CA placement) and my other Dad Tom and new Westie Sis; Toula. Aren't we a very handsome family? You betcha! Special thanks to my great Foster Mom, Karen. Love you all and promise never to forget you, Wally

UPDATED INFO....07.31.09 THIS WESTIE IN NEED.
MUST HAVE ADDITIONAL SURGERY!
Abscessed Foxtail's and several tracks burst.
Medical bills are over $1,000 currently. Please donate to help!

My New Name is WYATT...

I was an owner surrender, family evicted, standing in a government building parking lot, in 110 degree heat! My owner didn't know what else to do, other than take me, my Dad and Mom to the local high kill shelter. Wow..talk about fate, a nice man took all three of us Westies. Not even considering he had several cats. Well you know, we Terriers don't like felines so much. After a brief introduction to his cat population, he found Westie Rescue of CA and their local volunteer came quickly. Now am in a great foster volunteer home. Aah, they have air conditioning, a doggie door and lots of food....live is looking up! There are resident male and female Westies here, and that's okay by me. Gosh, feel like already a Lotto Winner! Yahoo!

Surrendered pedigree paperwork indicates my DOB: 12/07/2007. Not neutered yet, but need to get me medically sound before that happens. Guess have abscessed foxtail's that are worrisome. Treating with doses of antibiotics and hot compresses. May have to have surgery, hope not! My Foster Mom is working on house training, was an outdoor dog exclusively. Now have own crate, where sleep at night. Learning house manners, that will make me more adoptable (my Foster Mom said that). Vaccinations updated (Rabies-3 yr, DHLPP, Bordetella), fecal and microchiped. It was apparent I was never groomed (why no glam photo yet), so learning to 'set pretty' to have my leash on for nightly walks, visits to the park, and exercise Making good progress; learning to use the doggie door and finding my 'inside' voice (no barking). All this attention is super! The new food and feeding schedule ain't bad either; they call it The Westie Diet.

My immediate incoming bath and scrub was to get off all the ticks and fleas. Plus they wondered what that 'tar-like' stuff was all over my back. I scrubbed on tires in the back yard when I itched...hmm? Took a long time to scrub off with several medicated baths. I tried to be a good boy. Now the grooming thing, that was new! Can you say 'wiggly'...oh, yeah!

Riding in cars, getting treats when good and being out of heat, are all good things. Adoptive home should be an experienced Terrier home, with lots of love, patience willing to continue house and crate training, time to give daily exercise and show me off at a basic obedience training class or two. Does that sound like you? Well these folks, need your application. My Foster Mom thinks I will be placed fast.....I got lots of 'Terrier-tude' and know it! I'll continue learning new stuff, so you do your part getting in the application. Okay? Sign me, why not, WYATT.
