ZOEY

Wow, what a journey and it's not over!

These kind folks are calling me ZOEY.....

UPDATE: 06.2008......Zoey has been diagnosed with advanced Bladder Cancer. Therefore she will remain within our long term foster care program until she goes to The Rainbow Bridge. If you would like to donate toward her long term foster/medical care, it would be much appreciated. Go to our website, under 'Donation'. Thank you for reading her story.

PREVIOUS INFORMATION....... Here is my story and how I know I will have a much better life and a new loving home. A kind Westie owner found me wondering the streets. She called to me but I didn't respond, as she got closer she understood why, my ears were swollen shut due to neglect. She also noted both of my eyes were literally 'glued' shut with mucus and she had to soak them with warm compresses. I smelled, fur was matted, and not being able to hear or see made me afraid and scared. She brought me home, cleaned me up (as best she could) and contacted Westie Rescue. They took incoming photos, placed a 'found' ad in the newspaper, scanned me for a microchip.....
....but nobody came forward.

Fast forward, I am on the mend now cause I have been to the Vet and have vaccinations (Rabies-3 yr, Bordetella, DHPP, Corona). The blood work-up revealed my Thyroid was low. Hum, probably due to my previous owner giving oral steroids for long periods of time.

They think I am 4-5 years old and was altered previously. I am really good about taking daily medication, when it is wrapped in cheese......: - ). I take a tiny inexpensive pill in the AM and PM to regulate by Thyroid, that has helped my skin as well plus antibiotics for my ears and skin. I am very good in the bath, and being scrubbed with a soft natural bristle brush with medicated shampoo. Amazing what a little TLC can do ...viola, I am getting beautiful again. Oh, yeah I had a bladder infection as well. But you can not keep a good Westie down!

My foster Mum says; am crate trained, like the Westie Diet(see our website for recipe), travel well in the car, walk on a leash excellent and absolutely love to go outside and sniff. Perhaps, came from a home where there were young children, tolerant and wagging tail friendly for 5 years and up. I can now see the huge basket of dog toys and love to spread them all out and play. The doggie door was something new, but I mastered it without a problem. Probably cause the doggie door leads to a big patio area where we all sun ourselves in the afternoon. I get along great with the other male and female Westies in foster care. Aaaah, life is good! But I really want my own family again. Are you my new forever home? Gosh, hope so....get in that application. I have a 'to-go' bag ready for my new home; a new collar and leash, squeaky toys, a ball, a cozy blanket, and some treats too (hey, a girl's gotta eat!). Yahoo, I am ready! Are You? Hope so, thanks for reading my 'finders keepers' story.

Sign me a very thankful....ZOEY.
