Hi Westie Lovers.....MY NAME IS Wee Mac....
His name is Wee Mac Ering and he has only known one owner and home in his 12.5 years. We are allowing him the opportunity to continue to know the love of his elderly senior by helping with the financial burden of Wee Mac's Diabetic needs.
The owner, on a fixed income herself, initially contacted us to see if she could place Mac into rescue. She could no longer afford his insulin, syringes, prescribed Veterinarian food and routine medical testing. She already owed a balance at the Veterinarian's office and had been selling her personal goods, furniture and the like to obtain money to cover his care. She has had him since he was 7 weeks old and they both had been through so much together.
She is also a Diabetic, lives in subsidized housing for low income seniors and just didn't have any other options but to give him to a rescue group. This story particularly touched our hearts. Who could be so loving to sell their possessions to keep their beloved Westie.
We are now covering the costs and providing FREE to the owner and her Westie all needed insulin, syringes, prescription food and Veterinarian care. It is felt this situation is better for the owner, the dog's health and stability. After all these years, he deserves to live out his remaining years in the only home he has known. The owner is over joyed and Wee Mac is doing well in his owner's loving care.
If this story has touched you, would you please make a donation upon behalf of Wee Mac? You can donate via our website or send a donation in the US Mail. Either way, Westie Rescue and Wee Mac thanks you sincerely. It truly is about helping our breed, their owners and the dogs......one dog at a time. Thank you.
Thanks Wee Mac

Dear Susan and kind folks donating to his care,
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the latest support of WeeMac for his Veterinarian care, special food, insulin and syringes. We are so grateful for your kind support and that of your amazing donors.
Will take new pictures of Mac, and send prints along. That is if he will sit still and can get a good one. He is doing remarkably well for his age-14 years old on June 1st! I am so glad he is able to live out his little life so happily and actively, thanks to your generosity. He walks with me several hours a day-doing my chores, running in the vineyards, greeting the shopkeepers in town, and visiting with his doggie cronies at the park. We provide each other with a great deal of pleasure and happiness . I am so grateful to have my little companion, even though he manages to get into as much trouble as he can muster! I will miss his stubborn ways when he's gone.
Thank you all !
Sherrill and WeeMac

Update: Wee Mac Eainrig
Dear Volunteer,
I am writing to let you know how Wee MacEainrig is doing, and to
thank you again for allowing him to live out his happy, little
( but
VERY important) life. He is doing well on his diabetic regime; but
his
appetite sometimes flags a little--especially in hot weather, and I
need
to adjust his insulin a bit. Sometimes his walks are interspersed with
rests in the shade. But he still takes responsibility to check every
tree, bush, and corner of the park for any Pee-mail and answer any
messages before heading to the car - task completed.
He goes to Veterinarian in June for his physical, and vaccines. It seems his sight and hearing have declined a bit; He is 13 yrs next month.
He accompanies me everywhere...When
I do my errands in our little village, all the shopkeepers and clerks invite
him in and they greet each other. His favorite is a shop that specializes in
doggie gear and high quality treats. They are displayed in tubs for doggie
sampling. Dogs are allowed in, water
is availabe for them in the tree-shaded garden area out back. This makes for
a break--and Mac knows he must make his selection from the diebetic bin. I make
adjustments in his meal when we get home.
I love my little friend so much and think of your organization every day as I enjoy our time together. I don't think you could ever imagine the joy you bring to those you serve. I am so grateful that all of you have the same soft spot in your hearts for our precious little Westies.
Sincerely,
Sherrill and WeeMac
